William McCauley was recently named LA Actor of the Week as the dying Benjamin Britten in "Autumn Canticle," and was Ebenezer Scrooge in LA's musical "Christmas Carol." He replaced Jerry Orbach in "Chicago," playing Billy Flynn for three years. Best known as Henry Higgins, he has also played Harold Hill, Daddy Warbucks, Fredrik Egerman, Ben Stone, and the villain Gian Francesco de Spiga in the off-Broadway spectacle "Tamara." He made his Broadway debut in Franco Zeffirelli's "Saturday Sunday Monday" with Sada Thompson and Eli Wallach. A Northwestern graduate and former musical director of the Goodman Theatre, he is a past winner of the Anna Moffo Vocal Award. TV: James Tyrone in PBS's Long Day's Journey Into Night." a year on "Loving," "Law & Order: CI." One of New York's finest cabaret performers, he succeeded legend Mabel Mercer as resident entertainer at the St. Regis Hotel, a position he held for two years.
